SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Since 1906, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest has structured its development around strong commitments and the value of solidarity and has always placed innovation at the heart of its concerns.
The ACO therefore wanted to take a new step forward on themes linked to sustainable development by structuring its commitments, now identified under three main pillars:
- ENGAGEMANS FOR THE PLANET
- ENGAGEMANS FOR A RESPONSIBLE ECONOMY
- ENGAGEMANS FOR ALL
Paprec is the company that takes care of all waste management on the 24 Heures Camions site, the shared ambition of the ACO and Paprec is to achieve 80% material recovery for the waste generated on the circuit (and only 20% energy recovery).
For this, more than 2000 new sorting containers were installed. Spectators will be able to find selective sorting bins (yellow), bins for bio-waste or even bins for non-recyclable waste on the circuit.
In 2024, the selective collection figure (material recovery) will reach 50% thanks to the efforts of everyone during the 24 Hours Trucks.
For catering offers, the ACO encourages restaurateurs to prioritize short circuits. The ACO works with restaurateurs to increase the proportion of products from local and certified producers in their catering offerings.
Restaurant owners have also put in place measures to accommodate people with disabilities.
For several years, the ACO has been working with the Restos du Cœur association to collect uneaten food and redistribute it to people in need.
Bread bins are installed in the Restos du Coeur collection centers around the circuit so that they can be collected by the Pain Contre la Faim association.
